Assistant Coach Tony Condra

The St. Louis Surge will welcome back Tony Condra as an assistant coach for the 2023 season.

Condra started with the Surge in 2013 as an assistant coach before moving up to the head coach position in 2014. He is coming back on the coaching staff after being head coach from 2014-2018. In his time as the head coach, Condra led the Surge to two National Championship titles and four Regional Championship titles.

Condra said as an assistant coach this year, he wants to help break down some mistakes in practice and in the game as well as aid in skill development.

“I want to help players accomplish their goals,” Condra said. “I am big on the mental health of players now and making sure they can keep their head above water.”

In 2016, Condra was awarded Coach of the Year after the Surge had a 13-2 season record and won its second National Championship in three years. In his time as the head coach, Condra recorded 63 wins and only nine losses.

Outside of the St. Louis Surge, Condra also has two High School State titles under his belt as a coach with Metro Classical Academy. He also coached AAU basketball for over 15 years and trained more than 100 top female college and professional athletes. He has also held the title of the lead skill developer for the IE Pro Women Combine.

Along with basketball, Condra is an educator in the Pattonville School District.
