Tony Condra - Head Coach
Tony Condra is the Head Coach for the St. Louis Surge Women’s Basketball Team. Condra has been a part of the St. Louis Surge for two years and brings a experienced coaching foundation to the Surge organization. Highly efficient, reliable professional with extensive experience in the basketball field. Condra is a versatile team-oriented worker who possesses a broad range of skills in the areas of leadership, communication and basketball knowledge. Condra understands the concepts and knowledge for ensuring players receive productive and skillful basketball training. Leading team skills and drills practices, Condra teaches Surge players the basic fundamentals of basketball while breaking down offense and defense.
With successful development and training techniques, Condra has worked with some of the top players in Missouri and top skill developers in the country such as Nadine Domond, Founder and Director of ND Basketball Services, and Drew Hanlen, Nike Skill Developer. Condra was also a key contributor in the Adidas elite 100 Combine and the Adidas All-American Camp
Condra is currently the Assistant Director of Team Adidas , a high school girls basketball program, and owner of True Game Development. As Assistant Director of Team Adidas, Condra oversees 11 teams in the program, as well as provides scouting and recruiting opportunities for players. True Game Development provides aspiring basketball athletes with one-on-one development opportunities that works to improves players’ games both mentally and physically. Condra and True Game Development also hosts major clinics for male and female athletes.
Prior to the becoming a member of the St. Louis Surge organization, Condra served as head coach of St. Louis Hoops Girls Basketball for five years, where he led the team to a fifth place finish in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Nationals competition in Clarksville, Tennessee in 2000, as well as a fourth place finish in the AAU Division II Nationals competition in Nashville, Tennessee in 2004. Condra was also the Assistant Head Coach at Metro High School, where he was responsible for conducting drills during all practices. Condra also led the team to a Missouri State Championship in 2005-2006, as well as a fourth place finish in the state competition in 2007.
Condra received his bachelor of science degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia College.
Angela Lewis - Assistant Coach
The St. Louis Surge Women’s Semi-Professional Basketball team is proud to announce the hiring of Angel Lewis as the new assistant coach for the 2014 season. Author, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Angela Lewis, has officially joined the Surge’s coaching staff. Lewis, a St. Louis native, was a standout student athlete at St. Louis University. After her illustrious career as a Billiken, scoring over 1000 points and grabbing over 500 rebounds, she played professionally for TV Bensburg of the Women’s Bundesliga League in Germany. From there Lewis served as an assistant coach at Metro High School, Webster University and Southeast Missouri State University. In addition, Lewis worked as director of basketball operations at Marquette University.
Angela Lewis’s success extends far beyond the court as she is also an entrepreneurial visionary. Lewis started a sports consulting company, Athletes as Educators LLC, whose mission is to empower athletes for life and leadership as they transition from high school to college and from college to the workforce . As a result student athletes are able to make the best informed decisions for their futures. Inspired by the personal experiences she has encountered, her personal mission is to specifically positively transform the lives of young women through the sport of basketball. Her experiences remarkably culminated in her book ‘The Game Changing Assist: Six Simple Ways to Choose Success’. Lewis provides readers with a dynamic practical framework for success that uses basketball as a metaphor for life to challenge readers to take personal responsibility for their futures.
Lewis graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communications in 2004 and later returned to Saint Louis University to earn a master’s degree in Communications in 2006. Lewis is also a John Maxwell certified speaker, coach and teacher.
The Surge is very excited to bring such a decorated community leader into the family. Her wide range of experiences from all walks of life will be a true gift for our players and staff. We cannot wait to have her with us as we charge into the future
Petra Jackson - Assistant Coach
The St. Louis Surge Women’s Semi-Professional Basketball team is excited to return Petra Jackson as the assistant coach for the 2014 season. Jackson, a St. Louis local, had a playing career that stemmed from University City High School to Southern Illinois University (SIU).
Jackson spent three seasons as the head coach at Shoreline Community College in Seattle, Washington, where she posted a 45-32 record. Under her direction, the team posted its first 20-win season and earned votes in the NWAACC coaches poll. In 2003-04, Jackson was nominated for the WBCA Region 8 Coach of the Year after leading Shoreline to its first playoff appearance and a second place finish in the league.
Jackson was a standout guard at Southern Illinois University from 1982 to 1986. She finished her SIU career with 1,475 points and still ranks fourth on the all-time Saluki scoring list. Jackson holds the school record for career field goals made at 650 and is fourth on the all-time steals chart with 189. She was a first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection as a senior and also was the recipient of the Paul Roberson Award from SIU. Her teammates voted her Most Valuable Player. In 1991, she was inducted into the Southern Illinois University Hall of Fame. After her collegiate playing days, Jackson played professional basketball in the Women’s Basketball Association from 1993 to 1995.
Jackson began her coaching career in 1988 as an assistant coach at Harris-Stowe University. In 1992, she became the head coach for girls’ basketball at Block Yeshiva High School in St. Louis. After six seasons in the high school ranks, Jackson earned her first collegiate head coach position when she was tabbed to guide the programs at St. Louis Community College - Forest Park in 1998. Her 1999-2000 team placed second in regionals.
As a high school star at University City, she earned three letters in each of the sports of basketball, volleyball, softball and track and field.
