Representatives of the St. Louis Surge Basketball organization participated in the Wehrenberg Theaters Cans Film Festival on Saturday, December 7, 2013. The event was held in collaboration with The Salvation Army and all local Wehrenberg Theaters. The cans films festival was held in an effort to help families in need. More than 330,000 canned food items were collected at the Wehrenberg Theaters Cans Film Festival.

Members of the Surge organization joined volunteers from The Salvation Army, United Postal Service and Wehrenberg Theaters as they collected, counted and organized donated canned goods. Patrons donated five or more canned food items and were granted a free movie pass to view a movie of their choice. All of the donated canned food items will be donated to The Salvation Army food pantries.
