Sales and Sports Marketing Internship

Job Description:

We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic and driven marketing and sales intern to take the St. Louis Surge market by storm. You must be a team player capable of multi-tasking in a fast pace environment. Excellent verbal communication skills with a friendly and professional telephone style are a must. We are looking for candidates who work hard and strive to be the best. Bring that desire and determination to work every day and let us take care of the rest! We are accepting applications for Spring and/or summer of 2018. We encourage summer applicants to continue through our 2018 season until the 2018 National Tournament.

Responsibilities:

  • Maximize revenue through the sales of Surge tickets (i.e. Season, Groups and individual tickets)
  • Help to manage and grow existing database
  • Assist Surge owner with sales presentation for external and internal face to face appointments
  • Creating strong relationships with Season, Group and individual clients to promote yearly renewals
  •  Network, prospect and create new sales opportunities when and wherever possible
  • Work various events and games as assigned by management
  • Help to build the St. Louis Surge’s Social Media presence online (managing such sites, but not limited to, as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube, and other social media outlets)
  • Assist in developing new internet and marketing business relationships for the St. Louis Surge
  • Send out letters, fliers, email blasts to our current clients and potential clients
  • Identify new marketing opportunities and consult on existing marketing strategies

Qualifications:

  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, Marketing or a similar field
  • Ability to work flexible hours, some nights and weekends for events
  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Superior problem solver, with ability to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work with deadlines
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule (weekends, evenings)

  • High comfort level making cold calls
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Passion for sales and marketing
  • Demonstrate an enthusiastic and outgoing personality
  • Understand that the St. Louis Surge is a growing organization and is willing to put in extra time to complete tasks on time
  • College student; must receive academic credit
  • Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Skills in Adobe Creative Suite and Word Press or other web development is a plus

All internships are unpaid
