The Surge have had an extra week to prepare since their defeat at the hands of the powerhouse Wisconsin GLO to prepare for the upcoming doubleheader weekend. On Saturday, June 29th, the Surge will take on the Music City Icons at 3:05 pm at Washington University’s Field House. They’ll be back in action on Sunday, June 30th at 3:05 pm at the Field House for one final battle with the GLO. Doors open for both games at 2:00 pm.

The Icons enter this weekend’s game winless at 0-4, losing their most recent game two weeks ago to the Flint Monarchs 94-61. The GLO, who also had last weekend off, remain the GWBA’s lone undefeated squad. The 1-2 Surge, meanwhile, sit third in the GWBA standings, with a chance to come even with 2-2 Flint with a strong showing this weekend, or even vault them with some luck.

To turn their fortunes this weekend, the Surge will need to refocus on both ends. They must pass with purpose and court awareness. They must play with effort and intensity. They must communicate defensively and lock up the defensive glass in a way they have failed to in each of their three games so far this season. This double-loaded weekend will be a great test for the Surge, but it is also a tremendous opportunity. Come out forcefully, and the Surge could reestablish themselves and signal to the rest of the GWBA that they’re going to be a problem.

Join the Surge at 3:05 pm at Washington University’s Field House on Saturday, June 29th for the team’s Hometown Spirit celebration against the Music City Icons and Sunday, June 30th to honor our nation’s first responders, police officers, and veterans on Heroes’ Night. Doors will open for both games at 2:00 pm. The first several hundred fans will receive free Menchie’s frozen yogurt, and all fans will be able to bring their ticket stubs to the Menchie’s Heritage Place location for a discount. Available during the game will be face-painting and mobile photo booths. After the game, the Surge will offer an unforgettable experience to meet the players and get autographs.
