This weekend, for the final time in 2019, the St. Louis Surge will take to the hardwood of the Washington University Field House and defend home court. On Saturday, July 13th at 6:05 pm the Surge will meet the Chicago Breeze for what promises to be an exhilarating game.
Back on June 29th and 30th, the Surge played a doubleheader against the Music City Icons and Wisconsin GLO. St. Louis handled the Icons to the tune of a 104-77 victory, but the real test came Sunday, when the Surge confronted the GLO for the third and final time this regular season. The Surge fell 88-74, but a strong effort represented progress. The Surge played Wisconsin closer than any other team has this season, and that was despite 3-for-16 shooting from 3-point range–had the Surge merely matched their season average entering the game of 9.25 made 3-pointers per contest, the margin would have evaporated.
The Surge had last weekend off, as the team celebrated the Fourth of July and regrouped after the tough loss. Now, the Surge are ready to conclude the regular season on a high note and generate momentum heading into the GWBA playoffs.
The Surge’s final home game is far from the only Surge attraction this weekend, though. Sandwiching Saturday’s game, on Friday, July 12th and Sunday, July 14th, the Surge will be offering two special and unforgettable opportunities, the Surge Skills Camps. Kids will have the chance to get on the court with the Surge players, learn invaluable skills to improve their basketball abilities, and create cherished memories.
On the 14th, the session will run from 1 to 4 pm for boys and girls between grades 3 through 8 ($60). Both camps will be held at Fontbonne University. Attendees will not only have access to expert coaching from accomplished collegiate and professional basketball players, but will receive a VIP game ticket, access to a player meet and greet, player autographs, and a t-shirt. Saturday’s must-see game between the Breeze and Surge will tip at 6:05 pm at Washington University’s Field House. The game will be a celebration of you, as it’s the Surge’s Fan Appreciation Night. Doors will open at 5:00 pm, but the Surge have an extremely special treat in honor of the final home game. From 4:30 until 6:00 pm, WashU will be hosting a free tailgate outside the Field House, where the first 350 Surge fans will receive free corn dogs and hot dogs. After the game, the Surge will offer the unforgettable opportunity to meet the players and get autographs. Tickets for Fan Appreciation Night are available for purchase here and at the door. Directions and parking instructions can be found here. Support your Surge for the final time this regular season on Saturday, July 13th as they take on the Chicago Breeze.
