(ST. LOUIS, July 9, 2022) – The St. Louis Surge battled it out again this past weekend on the Detroit Queens home court. The Surge had a strong start, hitting a few threes and gaining momentum that led to a 38-33 lead at half. This was Akela Maize’s debut competition, and she brought her A-game, ripping down multiple rebounds and collecting 2 of the team’s 11 steals.
The Surge scored only 16 points in the third quarter, and knew they had to up their game in the fourth. Shug Dickson poured in 12 of her 16 points in the fourth, and the Surge clinched the W, 78-72. Sug Sutton and Kelsey McClure added 15 points each to the Surge, and as usual, Osh Brown dominated the boards, grabbing 8 rebounds. On the defensive end, Shug Dickson and Brittany Carter led the Surge with 3 steals.
The St. Louis Surge plays again at the WashU Field House on July 16th with tip-off at 7:05 PM. Individual game tickets can be purchased on the STL Surge Website.
