(ST. LOUIS, Aug 1, 2022) – The St. Louis Surge had their last home game of the 2022 season this past Saturday against the Flint Monarchs. This theme was black out night and Surge fans definitely showed up. WashU’s stands were packed with fans decked out in black Surge apparel, and fans went up to the top rafters. This final game was truly amazing and the Surge players put on a great show. 

 

Starting out of the gate, Michelle Berry tipped the ball to Osh Brown. The Surge dominated the boards this first quarter and scored 26 points to Flint’s 19. The second quarter was highly intense with a double technical foul. 5 Surge players scored in double digits. Osh Brown and Shug Dickson led the Surge in points with 18 each, followed closely behind by Kelsey McClure and Sug Sutton with 16 points each, and finally, Michelle Berry added 14 points. 

 

In the third quarter, the Surge had their largest lead of 18 points. The Surge had 15 fast break points in the game with a total of 45 rebounds in the game. Michelle Berry (9 rebounds) and Osh Brown (8 rebounds) led in rebounds which was a tremendous help offensively. The final quarter was another close run against Flint on the boards. Flint earned 23 points to the Surge’s 22. Both Michelle Berry and Sug Sutton went 4/4 on their free throw attempts when it truly counted. The Surge won their final home game. This was their fifth win in a row and is a great way to go into the playoffs this coming weekend. Final score 94-79 Surge. 

 

The Surge is now off to playoffs in Flint, MI. Their first game is Saturday, August 6th at 5PM CST against the Flint Monarchs. The Championship game is 1:30PM CST.
