This weekend, St. Louis Surge will compete in a double header against the Flint Monarchs. Both games will be held on the Surge home court at the Mabee Gymnasium. 

Saturday’s game on July 22 will have a “Power Up Pink” theme while the Sunday game on July 23 will have a “Hometown STL” theme.

St. Louis is coming off a win in their cross state matchup against the Kansas City Crossover. They came away with a 87-51 victory to improve to a 2-2 record. Emmonnie Henderson recorded a double-double to lead the Surge in their second win of the season. She had 16 points and 12 rebounds. 

Henderson is leading the Surge in rebounds, averaging around 9 per game. She is also the second leading scorer with 12.7 points per game.

Rookie guard Jade Loville averages 19.7 points per game which is the second highest in the league this season. She scored 10 points in their last matchup against Kansas City. 

Flint Monarchs are sitting in the number one spot for the GWBA with a 5-0 record. They have the league’s leading scorer, Asia Boyd. She averages 19.8 points per game. In Flint’s last GWBA matchup against Wisconsin Glo, Boyd scored 17 points in their 101-64 victory.

Along with Boyd, Ameryst Alston is averaging 16.8 points per game. She is coming off an MVP performance in the United Cup FIBA tournament where Flint went undefeated. This is the second year in a row that the Monarch’s have won the United Cup Invitational.

Flint will tour Missouri, playing Kansas City Crossover in Kansas City on Friday before traveling to St. Louis. Saturday’s game will tip off at 6:05 p.m. while Sunday’s game will start at 1:05 p.m. Doors for both games will open an hour before tip off.
